The EV adoption is facing what we call a chicken and egg problem, does the infrastructure come first or the electric vehicles? We at Sonik Mobility have taken this problem head on and have developed Made in India AC charging stations ranging from 3.3kW to 22 kW and are deploying them in residential areas especially in Tier-2 cities starting with Greater Noida, Noida, Ghaziabad and Meerut. We have developed the most advanced, IOT enabled charger in the market, that can be accessed through our mobile app using QR code or with Fastag, having created a whole new ecosystem for payments, we have made EV charging as simple as passing through a toll booth.
Sonik Mobility is an IIT-Madras incubated startup involved in developing and deploying EV charging stations ranging from 3.3. kW to 22kW along with DC charging stations of 60 kW. We have developed the most advanced, IOT enabled charger in the market, that can be accessed through our mobile app using QR code or Fastag. According to Knight Frank report, about 55% of India’s urban population lives in apartment( high rise) societies and they are the ones facing the problem of charging their EV’s the most, therefore Sonik Mobility is tackling this problem at the ground level by setting up charging stations in apartment complexes, followed with Malls and other public places initially in Tier-2 cities of India, especially in Uttar Pradesh which boasts 40% of total EV’s registered in India. We have already setup 20 charging points around Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad along with 6 more contracts thus gaining traction at a healthy rate.We have a robust core team that includes our CEO Mohammad Safa Azhar who is a B.S and M.S from the Pennsylvania State University USA, CTO Prerak Gupta who is an Electrical Engineer also from Penn State, along with our advisors Dr. Ashok Jhunjhunwala who is the director of IIT-Madras research park and Rajendra Kumar Krishnamurthy, who is the head of operations at Ashok Leyland. At Sonik Mobility, we are not just building chargers; we are creating an ecosystem that fosters the growth of electric vehicles, making sustainable transportation a reality
We have 3 revenue models: 1. We setup the charging station at our own costs in residential areas, charge the customers for charging their vehicles at our charging stations and share a percentage of profit with the society (around 10%-15%). 2. We set up the charging station at our own cost and take a monthly rent from the society for using our charger, CMS and they get to keep the earnings from charging the vehicles at our charging stations. 3. We directly sell the charging station to the society for an upfront cost and take monthly AMC from them for the maintenance of the station and for using our app and CMS.
