ScrapUncle’s working capital depends on two key factors:
A. Payment Cycle from Recyclers: The time it takes to receive payments from recyclers after delivering the material.
B. Material Holding Time: The duration materials remain in our warehouse before being shipped to recyclers. To manage this, we deal with Financial Backers, who are individuals or companies that provide immediate or advance payments to scrap aggregators. These financial backers play a crucial role in the current informal recycling value chain, bridging the gap between scrap aggregators and recyclers who do not offer instant payments.
Financial backers typically earn 2% for providing instant payments and 3% for business advances of up to 15 days. They are well-integrated into the recycling ecosystem and are connected directly with recycling mills. The transaction process is transparent: the material is billed to the financial backer and shipped to the respective recycling mill. These firms have been operating successfully in the recycling industry, with some generating revenues of up to ₹600 crores annually, only by facilitating the timing of transactions.
