Determination of the health of gas turbine blades is critical for safety. ▪ Since there are no existing methods to measure health parameters under operating conditions (over 1000 degrees C and speeds above 10,000 rpm), the current industry practice is to measure them at room temperatures and static conditions and extrapolate the data. ▪ This leads to maintenance delays and pre-mature retirement of healthy blades (leading to high costs). An example is the recent grounding of several Indigo planes as they await check on the Pratt and Whitney engines. ▪ In addition to aviation, the problem (measurement of operating condition parameters) exists in other industries and applications - 3D printing, fuel cells, space, electrolyzers, etc. ▪ Maapan labs has a patented technology (validated by a customer) that can measure several parameters under operating conditions of up to 2000-degrees C, as against 400-degrees C offered by the competition. ▪ With a roadmap for product offerings, discussions with several prospective global customers are in progress. ▪ Maapan Labs is looking to raise USD 1.5 Million which will enable it to complete product demonstration and be market ready in about 12 months. ▪ All inventor-founders are PhD’s from IISc, Bangalore with 60+ years of combined experience of developing multidisciplinary proprietary technologies working at GE Global Research, Bloom Energy, and have prior startup experience with Ahlawat R&D and TechnoConfluence.
