Startup Description

FAE Bikes is on a mission to revolutionize last-mile deliveries in India by making sustainable mobility accessible, affordable, and efficient for gig workers. Our vision is to build a future where every delivery partner can earn more and operate with minimal downtime through reliable electric mobility. We target India’s rapidly growing gig economy—specifically delivery partners working with platforms like Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, and Zepto—who currently rely on expensive and polluting petrol scooters. These workers face high fuel and maintenance costs, inconsistent earnings, and limited access to dependable vehicles. FAE Bikes addresses this with a tech-enabled, subscription-based electric scooter rental model. Our purpose-built EVs are supported by a robust battery swapping infrastructure, along with rapid service support. Riders pay weekly, enjoy zero fuel costs, zero maintenance hassle, and maximize their earning potential. To date, we've deployed 900+ scooters across Bangalore and Hyderabad, served over 10,000 riders, saved ₹35 Cr+ in fuel expenses, and reduced 9 million kg+ of CO₂ emissions. Our Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) stands at ₹50 lakhs. Led by a battle-tested founding team of IITians with deep expertise in EV mobility and fleet operations, we’re now expanding the fleet, scaling infrastructure, and enhancing our tech platform to serve 100,000+ riders in the next phase of growth.

Business Model

FAE Bikes offers electric scooters on a flexible subscription model to delivery partners working with platforms like Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, Zepto, BigBasket, and Loadshare, as well as to small retail outlets. For gig workers(B2C), we provide an all-inclusive weekly subscription that covers the scooter, unlimited battery swapping, and swift on-demand service support. For businesses(B2B) such as grocery chains, laundry outlets, and employee transport needs, we offer monthly scooter subscriptions tailored to fleet requirements. Our operations follow a hub-and-spoke model, with strategically located hubs across cities where we deploy, collect, and service vehicles. Delivery partners are onboarded via our mobile app—completing KYC, making upfront security and rental payments, and collecting the vehicle from the hub. Ongoing payments and service requests are also managed through the app. We acquire customers via organic search, referral marketing, delivery platform partnerships, and direct endorsements from Gig hiring managers. We also generate leads through strategic partnerships with companies like Zomato, Swiggy, Zepto, Blinkit, and BigBasket. These platforms promote FAE Bikes via their in-app EV marketplaces and internal communication channels to delivery partners, directing high-intent leads to us for conversion.

Tell us a bit about how founding team knows each other.

Dheeraj and Nigam have been friends since 2008, meeting during IIT-JEE prep. Dheeraj went to IIT Kharagpur and Nigam to IIT Madras. Dheeraj founded FAE Bikes in 2016, and Nigam joined as co-founder in 2018. Their 18-year bond, shared values, and complementary skills drive FAE Bikes as they jointly lead the company to build India’s leading electric mobility platform for last-mile delivery.

Why did you decide to start this company?

We founded FAE Bikes to address last-mile commute gaps in urban India. Seeing EV adoption rise among delivery partners, we pivoted to offer affordable, all-inclusive EV subscriptions for gig workers.
