Bare Necessities tackles the waste crisis through our holistic, two-pronged approach in the form of zero waste products and our sustainability education initiative, Bare Learning. We take a cradle-to-cradle approach to every product, from the design to manufacturing to distribution. We use high-quality, local ingredients native to India. For instance, our spa bars highlight native ingredients such as Turmeric, Annatto, and Coffee. Our modular circular packaging prevents any waste from going into the landfill or the environment. All our products are packaged in reusable, recyclable, and compostable packaging. Our powder-to-liquid home care range is are waterless alternative to conventional toxin-formulated products. Stir It Up, hand wash soap, Dissolve, dish wash soap, and Genie in a Bottle, multi surface cleaner, and stand as a testament to the fact that earth-friendly ingredients can effectively tackle dirt and grime, all while being gentle on the environment. Our refill pouches are packaged in compostable sachets, and we use Forever Glass dispensers.
Bare Necessities addresses the issue that the products we use daily are often packaged in plastic and contain chemicals that contribute to the plastic pollution crisis. Additionally, we aim to raise awareness about this issue among the general public in India. This is an issue that affects the entire population of India, yet only a handful of social businesses are addressing this issue within the country. Thus, by promoting the adoption of responsible consumption, we aim to divert harmful chemicals and plastics from ending up in landfills or waterways, which reach the ocean and harm life on the planet. Through our work, which functions within circular economy methodology, we also aim to increase the number of stakeholders involved with reducing waste throughout this country. Mission & Vision: We seek to provide high-quality, innovative products and educational services that will help communities tackle their waste and carbon footprint, all while creating environmental and social impact!
Revenue for products has been generated through B2B and B2C sales. Currently, we have a 20/ 80 split between each. Our B2C markets, including our website, Amazon, and other online stores, are assisting with our growth along with promotion through our social media and other marketing channels. We seek to stock our products in marketplaces with whom our values align. Some of them are Amala Earth, Brown Living, and GoNative. The first two are online marketplaces, whereas the latter is a restaurant with its retail store. These are women-run businesses that have a high impact on the work that they do. They are rooted in concepts of sustainability and seek to lower their carbon footprint as well. Our clientele is typically aged 18 to 50 and includes women and mothers. Our brand resonates with those seeking to switch to sustainable lifestyles. With our powder-to-liquid range of homecare products, we have been witnessing a greater number of customers, with a repeat rate of 50%.
