Tell us a bit about how founding team knows each other.
The Velvet founding team is deeply connected through years of trust and collaboration. Akshat and Varad have been close friends for over a decade, while Varad and Vikas have worked together seamlessly for five years. Vikas and Sharib share a lifelong bond, having been friends since Grade 3. These relationships bring a natural understanding and complementarity to the team, making Velvet not just a venture but a shared vision built on trust, camaraderie, and combined expertise.
Why did you decide to start this company?
Akshat identified the gap in immersive audio storytelling while at Pocket FM and shared it with Varad. Varad then discussed it with Vikas, who had been exploring similar ideas with Sharib for years.
